THE BLURB FOR SOME REFURB

In 1995 the members of Windsor Park Baptist Church made the bold decision to relocate Murrays Bay Baptist Church to what is now known as Windsor Park Baptist Church. Repurposing an old Dominion Breweries (DB) tavern was no easy task, however since our first service at this site on Sunday 9th June 1996 the land and buildings have proved their worth, allowing continued expansion of our congregation and the range of ministries we’ve been able to provide to the community. Now in our 23rd year on this site, the cost of maintaining and refurbishing our buildings continues to place pressure on our annual budget. As such, over the next few years we plan to raise sufficient funds beyond our annual budget to upgrade some of the core parts of our property.

PROJECT23 reflects that this is the 23rd year of our ownership and reflects our desire to continue to be good stewards of the assets God allows us to utilise which helps achieve our vision of building stronger communities by putting our faith into action.

The 2019 capital appeal, PROJECT23, is seeking to raise $250,000 to complete the following projects...

MAIN KITCHEN

This project will see our main kitchen completely refurbished from top-to-bottom. The main kitchen is a hub of activity, from catering to the preparation of frozen meals to an informal meeting space. It’s past its use-by date, as users will loudly attest! This refurbishment includes reshaping, flooring, plumbing, electrical, and everything else—we’ll basically make it a place people want to be in. That’ll be a nice change!

BATHROOMS

We have five bathroom areas to refurbish—the foyer bathrooms, the Kauri Room bathrooms, the unisex bathroom behind the auditorium, the créche bathroom and the main reception bathrooms. New . . . everything, and we’ll even have hot water! We will, however, retain the retro tile flooring because they’re back in fashion! Upgrading the bathrooms is part of looking after people.

TECHNOLOGY

Changing communities mean changing the way we connect with each other. We’ve recently started live-streaming our services with the addition of cameras and backroom IT upgrades. The numbers of people ‘tuning in’ or catching-up online increases every week—it’s a ministry in itself! We need to stay up-to-date with the demands of technology that makes this possible.

DEFERRED MAINTENANCE

There’s a bunch of little external projects we need to catch up on—if you want to know what they are, just take a little walk around the external buildings and you’ll see what we mean. We want to make a start on some of these things (and they’ll continue for a few years).
